“Spiritual Growth Through Life Challenges: Why Spiritual Doesn’t Mean Perfect”

There’s a common myth floating around in spiritual circles that once you’re “awake,” aligned, or deeply connected… life suddenly becomes smooth sailing.   No more breakdowns, messy emotions, heartaches or being blindsided by challenges.

Let’s clear that one up right now...that’s not how it works!

Often, life feels messier!!! You just somehow appreciate it more 🤔🤷‍♀️

When your spiritual practice is truly woven into your life, the Universe may actually bring tougher situations. This is not a punishment because you’re doing something wrong. Soemtimes it is because you have not been paying attention, so the Universe tries harder to get your awarenss - to shift you beyond the limiting place you are currently in. But often, it is because you have a greater capacity to meet these challenges on a deeper level - as you are ready to elevate to a higher state of consciousness.

The difference between someone who is aligned, or deeply connected with their spiritual practice for stress relief and someone who has had less experience in this part of their life is in the way it is handled, along with a different perception of what is happening.

Someone with a higher state of self-awareness and an established spiritual practice tends to meet challenges with presence, curiosity, and a willingness to feel what’s there before reacting.

Someone with less self-awareness and who does not use spiritual practices for stress relief may feel consumed by the experience, blame others, or reach for numbing behaviors. They can’t yet see the invitation to release old patterns or recognize the light they already carry.

The universe doesn’t care which camp you’re in.

It just decides, “Here is what you need right now to help you access more of the light within you”.

Same test, just a different experience.

Which camp do you feel like you’re in most of the time?

How do you cope when life hits hard?

Recently. I was presented with a situation that tested me in a way I wasn’t prepared for.  My nervous system went straight into freeze mode.  In the moment, I didn’t think I could handle it, and all my old fight or flight coping patterns wanted to jump onto the main stage!

This wasn’t just a test of capacity.  It was a mirror, showing me where I had gone off track, where I had given my power away, and most importantly, how ignoring my intuition can cause some real chaos!

The situation was crystal clear the day before.

It was like someone was standing in my ear yelling...

Do the thing, girl!  Do the dang thing NOW!

And yet, I was fully tapped into my Higher Self, sitting at my computer.... watching myself ignore those words.... and actually thinking...

"Why are you doing this? Why aren’t you listening?"

As I said at the beginning...  Spiritual doesn’t mean perfect! Spiritual growth happens through life challenges.

It means you notice faster, take responsibility sooner, course correct more honestly...and sometimes become the observer of how you will screw up just so you can learn a much deeper lesson.

Life IS the spiritual journey...

When I’m in heavy emotional or energetic states, I crave deep self-connection more than anything else.

I have many spiritual healing tools for overwhelm, but meditation is my go-to.

It grounds me, clears my energy, and gives me insight into what’s actually happening beneath the surface.

Often, what surfaces isn’t just about the current situation.

Sometimes the stress is what finally brings much older energy into awareness, the background noise you’ve been carrying around in your subconscious, quietly shaping your experience of life. As I said before:  the Universe tries harder to get your awareness - to shift you beyond the limiting place you are currently in.

When it gets loud enough, you notice it. And then you can let it go.

When things feel intense, I lean on simple, supportive practices.

Here is my go-to list of self love practices for healing that I share with you, to consider for yourself, if you too have healthy some coping mechanisms for emotional stress.

* Meditation to clear energy

* Lots of water with electrolytes

* Magnesium

* Walking

* Really healthy food

* Going to bed early

* Deep energy work before sleep

* Saying no to others when needed

None of this is glamorous.  And most of it may not sound like “spiritual work” - but guess what...it is ALL spiritual work.  Taking care of yourself means taking care of your energy, your emotions, and your well being. This IS spiritual work in action each and every day!

With this as a well established practice, I know I can move through even the most intense moments with the knowing that everything happens for us. These moments are our mirrors and our teachers.  They are invitations to reclaim our power, strengthen our intuition, and step into deeper self-love.

I’ve noticed another shift that has come from being so committed to my spiritual path that feels important to share - because when you get here, you know you can deal with a lot more in life:

❤️ When stress hits hard now, self-love doesn’t require effort - it activates naturally, as soon as I give it the tiniest bit of space to flow.

❤️It’s like my Higher Self says to me, "No matter what, you are loved.”

And that changes everything.

Some things for you ponder for yourself:

  • What do you turn to when you’re stressed?

  • Do you notice when you ignore your intuition?

  • Are you able to access self-love when you need it most?

  • Can you look back at a recent challenge and see how it may have been serving you?

When your spiritual practice is truly part of your life, it shows up in the little moments, and in the way you handle chaos.  And the truth is, more spiritual growth happens through life’s challenges.  With a solid set of spiritual healing tools for overwhelm, you will be more equipped to tap into a healthier perspective, and have a quiet trust that even when life throws a full-on curveball, you’ll land on your feet … or at least figure out how to crawl back gracefully, even if you cannot see the lessons clearly in the moment.

I have been reminded over and over again of how resilient I’ve become by establishign a spiritual practice and how connecting with my higher self is the most important and powerful connection I have... that I should not ignore!

When things feel intense, leaning into spiritual practices for stress relief like meditation and mindful self‑care helps with emotional regulation and gives you space to trust yourself and your intuition.   However, If you’d like to go deeper with even more support in clearing old patterns, reconnecting with your intuition, and strengthening your relationship with yourself, I’d love to work with you.

So, now I leave you with some final key points to remember:

  • Even when life feels unbearable, you already have everything you need to come back home to yourself. You just have to clear out some of the mud and cultivate a solid practice with Self - so that its a no-brainer when you need it most.

  • The more darkness you master by doing your inner healing , the more light you can hold.

  • The more light you can hold within, the more powerfully you can hold yourself in the world… and maybe even those around you!

Here is to your spiritual imperfections - may they always be your guiding light.
